Hec Whiley used this wooden barrel as a drinking water container for his men working on his chaff cutter. The barrel was kept on the tailboard of Hec's 1936 Ford Utility and it was covered with wet bags to keep it cool. There were usually 7 men in the chaff cutting team. Hec was one of several chaff-cutting contractors who worked within a 50-mile radius of Millthorpe from the 1920s through to the early 1950s. Harold Streatfeild restored the barrel.
